About BirDiversity

For thousands of years, birds have inspired art, science and culture.

Birds are spectacularly diverse, and our experiences with them have proven vital to our survival and enrichment over time. Unfortunately, birds are in trouble: many North American bird populations have declined steeply in recent decades, particularly due to habitat destruction and climate change caused by humans.

The BirDiversity exhibition is a celebration of art, science and ornithology in our Princeton community.

BirDiversity invited all members of the university community to submit bird-themed visual and audio art, including photographs, paintings, sculpture, video, music, recordings, and scientific images. The exhibition aims to highlight the creative work of artists and scientists - of all experience levels - in our university community, thus generating discussion about birds in our rapidly-changing world. Above all, BirDiversity intends to shine a light on the beautiful, mysterious and diverse birds with which we share our planet.
